Mission, Vision and Values

Headteachers Welcome

Since my arrival in January 2017, I have had the privilege and immense pleasure of leading Oak Tree Primary School. Together with our Governors, staff, parents, and pupils, we have cultivated a culture where every individual is valued and respected.

At Oak Tree, we place great emphasis on creating a happy, caring, and supportive environment that nurtures our children’s social and emotional development. I am incredibly proud that Oak Tree is a recognised Thrive school, employing a whole-school approach to developing positive mental health and wellbeing. This is grounded in the latest research in neuroscience, attachment theory, and child development.

Providing high-quality, continuous professional development for all staff is a top priority. Our team undertakes training in Rosenshine’s Principles to ensure every child receives high-quality, inclusive teaching. Additionally, our staff are trained in Thrive and Mind Up, equipping children with essential skills to lead calmer, healthier, and happier lives.

In 2019, we launched a dynamic new curriculum based on key texts with themes in Science, History, Geography, and Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education. Reading remains at the heart of our curriculum, offering children access to a wide range of modern, traditional, and recommended texts. The Arts and cultural enrichment also play a central role, with specialist teaching in Music, French, and Dance enhancing the confidence and self-esteem of all our pupils.

Oak Tree is truly a community-focused school, supported by experienced Governors, dedicated staff, and an active Parent Teacher Association. Together, we create opportunities for our children and families to engage in exciting events, such as termly discos, BBQs, and vibrant summer and Christmas fairs.

As a forward-thinking school, we continuously draw on the latest research to support our development and strengthen our ties with local businesses and community organisations.
